Instructors Amy Amy has over twenty years experience in industrial occupational safety and is a USCG approved instructor for commercial marine safety courses through the North Pacific Vessel Owners Association and is an OSHA authorized trainer for 10 and 30-hour classes. She is a member of the International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration (IIAR), Refrigeration Engineers and Technicians Association (RETA), and American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE). Amy is a contributing writer for Pacific Fishing Magazine. She is also the author of the 320 page Fishing Industry OSHA Compliance Guide and has developed a conjunctive OSHA training course for the North Pacific Vessel Owners Association. Amy was plant manager of an OSHA VPP facility, and has many years of experience implementing safety programs, including emergency response and PSM/RMP. Brett Brett holds degrees in Environmental Health and Safety and Fire Command. He is responsible for the management of a Washington fire department’s hazardous materials response team, and has over ten years experience as a firefighter and EMT. His past experience includes managing a city emergency management program and a comprehensive safety and health program for 1,500 employees. Some of Brett’s certifications include:
Dan Dan is a Coast Guard veteran with more than 20 years of experience in the marine industry, more than half of which has been spent planning and executing spill response. Dan is an expert in ICS and actively drills with the oil industry, the Navy, the United States Coast Guard, the Canadian Coast Guard, and state agencies. Dan is active in on scene response and has recently worked such spills as the New Carissa, post-Katrina cleanup in New Orleans, and most recently as On-Water Recovery Group Supervisor for the Cosco Busan spill in San Francisco. Dan maintains licenses as Master 1600 GRT Oceans, Mate UFIV 5000 GRT Oceans, AB Unlimited, Tankerman PIC (DL), and GMDSS. He is certified in 80-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and as a Hazardous Waste Operations Supervisor. He specializes in both oil and ammonia refrigeration leak response.
Jane A former Plant Operations Engineer, Jane was responsible for a 3600 HP ammonia system for fourteen years. She also operated and managed a 6.6 megawatt diesel generated powerhouse. Jane has extensive ammonia refrigeration experience and has been RETA certified since 1996. She has supervised and implemented PSM and RMP programs and successfully participated in many agency inspections. She also supervised and trained a large Level B HAZMAT team for more than ten years. Jane is an OSHA authorized 501 trainer and a University of Washington Certified Safety Specialist.
A former member of the United States Army Military Police, Jeff has over 10 years experience as a Training and Response Manager in the oil spill response industry. Jeff has worked closely with state and federal regulators and has conducted response training throughout the US and in Europe. Jeff’s certifications include:
